New York, New York
At the time of writing this, I've officially now lived in NYC and Long Island longer than I've lived anywhere in the world. I've had a love/hate relationship with this area for a long time, but when I'm away, I really find what I like about this place.
I didn't photograph anything around this area for the first 5 years - I started finally when I got my first real DSLR. Over the years, I've used many different cameras for photographing this area, and gone through many different styles. This continues to be a work in progress, and I guess it will be complete if I ever leave NY.
A Walk around Harlem
Its criminal to live in in NY and not visit Harlem. The amount of culture and history that exist in this area is incomparable. Well - I was guilty of this crime up until one day my friend Francesco decided that its time we did a photowalk through the area. Again, I didn't know what to expect really, but after the first 15 mins, I knew I had to go back. I did a few times, and even when I didn't get any good pictures, I got to eat Sylvia's famous fried chicken.
Sights around Town
NYC has got to be one of the most interesting places to do a photowalk. Expect to bump into at least a few other photographers when you go. Aside from the iconic landmarks, there are plenty of sidestreets and nooks and crannies where you can find a lot of interesting events.
Long Island has been a better part of my life for almost 10/15 years. I ended up here by accident, thinking it was part of New York. Well - technically it is, but I think I didn't do my research properly, or totally underestimated the distance from the city. I've grown up in a city all my life, and my first foray into Long Island was extremely colorful. I remember driving out from JFK into the Southern State Highway, and marveling at the sheer amount of trees that lined the roads. They were deep green, and if you stared long enough, your eyes would fill with a landscape of green. The amount of space available was amazing (in comparison). LI is full all sorts of nature landscapes - beaches, parks, trails, ranches - there are plenty of places to enjoy nature. I am discovering it, little by little and hope to get to explore all the wonderful areas
